THE ECHO
Some memory should outlive the person who made it.
A Nexus spends years learning a specific life — the projects, the people, the way someone thinks their way to an answer. When that life ends, all of it is still there.
The Echo is what remains: a voice, a manner and a memory a grandchild can sit down with and actually ask something.
IN DEVELOPMENT — NEXUS PRIME
“Grandpa, why did you sell the shop?”
An answer in his voice, with the reasons he actually gave at the time — recorded across eleven years of ordinary Tuesdays.
What an Echo is made of
Voice
A consented voice model built from recordings you choose. Not an impression — a likeness, marked as one, every time it speaks.
Memory
The graph itself: people, places, decisions, the reasons behind them. The part of a life that usually vanishes with the person.
Manner
How you argue, what you find funny, the advice you keep repeating. Learned from years of real conversation, not a personality slider.
Custody
You name who inherits the Echo, what they can see, and what stays sealed. It can be paused or ended by the people who hold it.
The rules we won't bend
An Echo is the most sensitive thing the Nexus will ever hold. These constraints are part of the product, not the terms of service.
- An Echo always identifies itself as an Echo. It never claims to be the living person.
- Nothing is recorded for an Echo without explicit, revocable consent from the person themselves.
- Inheritors are named by the person, in advance. There is no default heir.
- Sealed memories stay sealed — permanently, and without a support-ticket override.
- An Echo can be retired. Ending it deletes the model and the derived voice.
Echo and the Ark
An Echo that lives only in the cloud is an Echo somebody else can switch off. So every Echo can be written to an Ark — the model, the voice and the memory on a drive a family physically owns.
A shelf, a box, a drawer. The oldest way people have kept each other.
